Big News from the Miami River Foods Project!

Miami River Foods Project Newslettery - August 14th, 2010

Hello from the Miami River Foods Project team, with an update on your very own local food revolution brewing in Miami County. Time has simply flown by since our last newsletter went out for the 4th of July, and we're thrilled to share some exciting news from the past few weeks.

We've been focused on two big efforts of late: officially founding a food cooperative, and developing a model of organizing that makes it easier for other communities to get their own community-owned groceries up and running.

It's been an exciting adventure! Thank you for your support, and read more for the full scoop!

Growing the Beta Test program

Please join us in thanking our fantastic intern, Cristian, for his hard work with the Beta Test program this summer!

Click here to see what Cristian has to say about his experience.

Over 118 (!) families now participate in the Beta Test program, which is the "booster rocket" that is blasting our cooperative organizing effort into outer space. We partner with dozens of local farms and natural foods sellers to offer local, grass-fed, and organic foods through the Stone's Throw virtual market. Beta Testers place orders online and pick up their groceries at our partner store, the Troy Meat Shop.

Please click here to read more about the Beta Test program, and email info@miamiriverfoods.org to check out our virtual market and get started Beta Testing!
