Happy 4th from the Miami River Foods Project!

The Miami River Foods Project Newslettery - July 1, 2010

Here at the Miami River Foods Project, we believe that good local food is fundamental to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We invite you to celebrate this Fourth of July by supporting a sustainable future!

Why you should become a Beta Tester this Independence Day

Life

  • Beta Testers are the life of the Miami River Foods Project! Their participation supports our goal of founding a brick-and-mortar, community-owned grocery store.
  • Food is the lifeblood of our local economy. We've kept over $20,000 of our food dollars in the region and state since January 2010.
  • Organic growing methods support living water and soil. We offer organic flour, sugar, cooking oil, olive oil, oats, eggs, meats, nuts - and much more!
  • Healthy food improves your quality of life. Email info@miamiriverfoods.org to check out our growing selection of gluten-free and vegan options!
  • Liberty

  • Chemical, hormone, and antibiotic free! We've got a great selection of natural and pastured meats from nearby farms, including chicken, turkey, beef, bison, and pork.
  • Snowville Creamery cows have freedom to roam on real grass. We're the only source of fresh, pastured, hormone and antibiotic-free Snowville milk in the area, and we're thrilled you've been stopping by the Troy Meat Shop (map) to pick up extra between 9am and 6pm. Become a Beta Tester, and pre-order yours today!
  • Freedom from minimum orders! No more minimum means it's easier to buy for your household's needs.
  • Break free from your car! Make one trip to Beta Test pickup and buy local -- without making the drive to every individual farm and local small business.
  • The pursuit of happiness

  • Happy fruits & veggies. "It's like Christmas every time we open it," says Mary, a participant in the Happy Box Organic CSA program. Through an exclusive partnership with the Happy Box, Beta Testers may order a weekly subscription OR one-time Happy Box full of local and organic fruits and veggies from Fulton Farms. Click here to see what's in season this week!
  • Our Beta Recipe Collection makes cooking more fun! Check out our What's New page for regular recipe updates.
  • The Taste of Troy will be a joyous celebration of local food! Mark your calendar for September 18th, when the Miami River Foods Project will set up a demo farmer's market on the Troy Square!
  • Beta Testers are a blast! If you're looking for a fun group to get involved in, we welcome you to join our team of 40 volunteers in the cooperative organizing effort!
  • Getting started with the Beta Test program
